The Call to Repentance - 2 Timothy 1:6-10
Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
The Prayer of Confession (after silent confession)
All: Heavenly Father, you have given us your laws and we have broken them. You have shown us the way and we have gone our own way. We have not worshiped you as you deserve to be worshiped and instead have bowed down before idols. Our sins have brought shame upon us and have offended your holiness. Cleanse us from all our filthiness and forgive us of our idolatry. By the power of your Spirit, cause us to walk in your statutes and to keep your judgments and do them. Through Christ our Lord we pray. AMEN.
The Assurance of Pardon - Titus 3:5,6 “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior.”
