The Call to Repentance – 1Timothy 5:21-25
I charge you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing with partiality. Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people’s sins; keep yourself pure. No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for your stomach’s sake and your frequent infirmities. Some men’s sins are clearly evident, preceding them to judgment, but those of some men follow later. Likewise, the good works of some are clearly evident, and those that are otherwise cannot be hidden.
The Prayer of Confession (after silent confession)
All: Out of the depths we cry to You, O LORD. We ask that Your ears be attentive to the voice of our supplication. For if You, LORD, should mark our iniquities, O LORD, who could stand before You? But there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared. Your people do hope in You, O LORD, for with You there is lovingkindness, and with You there is abundant redemption. Redeem us from all our iniquities. In Jesus’ name we pray, AMEN. (Psalm 130)
The Assurance of Pardon – Psalm 85:2-3 “You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins. You set aside all your wrath and turned from your fierce anger.”
